$1.5bn Investment in South West Colorado

Sun Bear

THE FUTURE OF
CLEAN ENERGY IS HERE

A 975MWP SOLAR AND BESS SYSTEM CONNECTED TO THE GRID

Sun Bear is an innovative solar and energy storage project located in the four corners region, and represents a $1.5 Billion investment for Southwest Colorado. The project is being built on 5,500 acres of land and on completion will generate enough clean energy to power more than 250,000 homes during peak  generation.

A PARTNERSHIP MODEL

We are proud to work with a diverse set of partners who are experts in their fields, leaders in the community, and are vital to the long term success of Sun Bear.

The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe is our primary partners, and Sun Bear would not be successful without their vision and participation. We respect the work they have done around clean energy in the past, the generational knowledge of the land and all that they bring to project Sun Bear.

More about the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe can be found on their website here.

LOCATION

Situated in the South West corner of Colorado in the Four Corners region, Sun Bear is well positioned for harnessing the sun with its large unobstructed sky, high annual solar irradiance, and low seasonal variability. The site is located close to a confluence of transmission systems which provide access to customers via both transmission and distribution interconnection.

The Environment

Canigou utilizes several specific conservation techniques in preparing the Sun Bear site for the construction and installation of solar panels and battery storage, with the least impact to the existing vegetation, that represent significant new standards for solar construction in these environments.
